Treasured memories of 2025

January 29, 2026

Treasured memories of sunny days, suffused with golden light, ready to be brought out and brushed down, just as another named winter storm scorches through.

There should be a summer filter to cast over January shouldn’t there!  Maybe that’s what holidays are for or time spent in quiet contemplation? Moments to store up happy memories for the darker winter months to come.

Simple pleasures

“What Happy memories have you of the summer” a friend asked recently. Well, it wasn’t hard to think of some simple pleasures. Some memories were moments woven into our day and others took us further away from Ednovean Farm.

My memory list

  • To contemplate the day, with a cold drink in the evening garden.
  • A quiet afternoon lazily swimming in one of Perranuthnoe’s sheltered Coves, before idling with a picnic on the sands.
  • Time watching the seasons in the gardens
  • A special supper just above the sea

Daily rituals

Well the first one was a little habit of taking a cold drink and some nibbles deep into the Italian Garden to sit in the residual heat of the day. A time to just sit and contemplate the day as the clouds drifted overhead.

This was a special evening as it was our wedding anniversary!

It was a quiet reflective time that our cats quickly adopted for essential-laps-and-purrs. In fact they were still trying to usher us down into the garden each evening in November. We introduced the idea of a log burning stove to them instead!

For us? Well, for a summer treat, we occasionally walked down for supper to the in the unpretentious cliff top garden of The Cabin.

An evening spent listening to the sea lapping the sands just below our table, followed by a stroll along the beach below. Yes that was a perfect summer memory.

Fine dining suggestions

Eating alfresco is a wonderful summer pleasure and it’s something that most local cafes and restaurants are embracing these days. From relaxed (but Good Food Guide) pavement dining at Mackerel Sky in the fishing town of Newlyn, to the chic trendy Argoe that was declared by Kate Winslet to be “The best restaurant in the World.” Check out more from the Michelin Guide

The sea!

On summer days the beguiling blue seas of summer are just too tempting as the temperature soars. Perranuthnoe is flanked not only by the beautiful sandy beach but also by quieter more secluded coves that are havens for seabirds.

I’m always mesmerised by the sunlight that ripples through the water to the sea bed and the soft eddies of the sea pools. Precious summer memories that do of course need to be restocked each year!

Garden days

Last year’s Mediterranean Summer was almost unbelievable and perfectly suited to our sub tropical garden at Ednovean farm. The hot sunny days, unfolded from May through a dizzying dream of midsummer before gracefully coming to a gentle close in the autumn. I was sad to say Farewell to September last year.

Lastly don’t forget to check out our diary as we only have two bedrooms and some dates are going fast!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this snapshot of summer memories, to help the winter along. 2025 was a year when the heat of the summer days lingered long into the night and left memories to treasure.
