Supper in Perranuthnoe! When I put together our Newsletter the other week I touched upon the lovely food that’s available, in our peaceful village, within a hop and a skip of the sea (and Ednovean Farm of course!) So this week it’s time to give you all the details
The memories of our mini adventures into Perranuthnoe, for special suppers will linger long after the clouds have returned. So today I thought that you might like to see some foodie snaps with some unexpected outings for us!
.
An adventure beside the sea
First of all, imagine a sunny evening and a sudden decision to pop to the village shop for a casual picnic supper to eat beside the sea on our local beach. Well last week we suddenly felt the call to the sea!
We arrived to blue skies and an even bluer sea, as the tide just was just retreating from the warm earthy cliffs that flank the beach.
We found a perfect niche close to the slipway to watch the beach strollers, the enthusiastic swimmers, the impromptu games of cricket and above all the waves rippling towards the shore.
All that’s left of our beach escape today is a small haze of sand on our bathroom from our back pack and a lovely memory of a warm sunny evening in Cornwall. It reminds us to return again very soon when a blissfully sunny evening beckons.
Supper at The Cabin
The Cabin is perched beside the slipway just above the beach and perfect for an al fresco supper overlooking the waves or comfortable yet informal dining, in the bright and airy interior. The Cabins Alta ego emerges form the busy beach café at the weekend, in the shape of The Tipsy Crab.
Our visit was for a surprise party. A family reunion ranging for young children to grown ups, with a long table stretched under the panoramic window. The evening Bistro menu offered Boeuf Bourguignon, crab terrines, warm salads of goat cheese and bacon and of course chicken and chips for the children. (with much appreciated adjustments adjustments for Gluten free diet)

The Peppercorn
The Peppercorn is still within sight of the Cornish cliffs, yet nestles amongst the galleries and micro shops of Lynnfield Craft Centre. We often stop to buy a home made cake to slip in pocket as we walk home, however we’re looking forward to treating ourselves to lunch in the sunny garden very soon.
I still remember their delicious lockdown takeaways though! (Once rulings allowed) They were a phenomenal balance of flavours, cooked with passion.
This is a daytime venue of course, although there may be a twinkle of a one off evening opening for a very special supper in Perranuthnoe.

The Victoria Inn
The Victoria remains the venerable lady of the village eateries, however her recent country chic revamp suites her well and echo’s the accomplished menu.
We walked across the fields for supper, to celebrate our thirty third wedding anniversary with the bells and whistles. However we’ve swiftly reprised our pub supper since, to take advantage of the Monday special: – of Fish and Chips with a glass of beer or wine for £15. At the moment ( July 2024) this offer is ongoing!

So this is our foodie adventure for supper in Perranuthnoe this spring and summer. We’ve enjoyed our visits to the two vibrant cafes and the cosy village pub.
Three super spots to eat in Perranuthnoe plus the ad hoc adventure for a sunset picnic on the beach ( swimming optional!) What is there not to love!
Ednovean Farm still has a few slots available this summer holidays too!
