Are you thought turning to summer memories now, as the last of the winter days give way to spring? Memories of warm, lush, days of delicious idleness; of summer days spent in Cornwall in an irresistible love affair between sea and countryside…
Summer days when the leafy canopies of the trees cast shadows so deep, you can almost drown in the depths of the lush lucid shade. Summer days bring bright rippling fields of corn to the countryside, stretching to the horizon as an unconscious proof of the bounties of the season. The swathes of faded gold enveloping the old mine buildings left from another era.
Here are some of my favorite memories and hopes for summer days to come in Cornwall!
of sparkly summer seas and secluded hidden coves
The sea grows gentle again in the Summertime, caressing the sands it lashed so furiously through the winter months until it eventually rests languidly forming a sublime mirrored poll across Mounts bay where the sky seems to merge seamlessly into the water
Of walking to picnic spots on secret coves with wine cooling in the shallows
Memories of velvety green shadows just glimpsed through an open gateway
An open gate reveals a sudden glimpse of a view over the tranquil countryside or a stroll around one of Cornwall’s lush valley gardens
Timeless moment with fields of ripening corn
With a gentle whisper in the air as the golden corn ripens in that timeless way that evokes another era in a landscape carrying the traces of the old mining industry now jostling with solar powered windmills
Heat rising from Country Lanes
Summer memories of the meandering cornish lanes, where the heat hangs heavily in the afternoons trapped between the cornish banks and the tarmac grows sultry and sticky underfoot.
Blackberries ripening as summer fades
Blackberries ripening on the cornish cliffs bring a hint of sadness as summer fades
Summer brings silky smooth waters framed by verdant reeds in Marzion in contrast to the winter days where the Murmurations gather in winter
Cats preening in the summer sunshine
The comfortable cats dividing their time between sunshine and shade in the garden with evitable idleness
Summer can make such wonderful memories to hold tight to for the year, in the busy progress of daily routines. So it is with that thought in mind that I revisited some of the spots that I shared with you in “Seven winter days in pictures” to look again at Cornwall to save some pictures to cheer the last of the winter days out of the way in a warm celebration of Summer memories.
Are you ready for the days to come – i know I can’t wait now for those endless balmy days that stretch lukewarm into the night and the chance to walk again on with the fine golden sands pushing up between my toes. But for now, I hope that you’ve enjoyed my Summer memories to help make the winter days just a little bit shorter
