Christmas at Ednovean

December 23, 2018

Snow makes Ednovean into a Christmas card

Our Christmas tree is set up in the Dining room and it has spread its own rich distinctive scent throughout the house – doesn’t it bring back such wonderful, nostalgic memories of so many Christmases long passed, when that evocative scent starts to drift through the air again each year.

I’d love to wish you a wonderful Christmas time and thank you for popping by to read my blog over the year before I show you a little bit of Ednovean Farm at Christmas time.

The day we lived in our very own Christmas card – February 2018!

Snow makes Ednovean into a Christmas card

Charles and I are taking a little break now, just for Christmas Day and Boxing Day but we have house guests coming to stay with us just after Christmas so we won’t be alone – somehow the house really comes to life when it’s welcoming guests.

We’ll be reopening ready for our late Christmas and New Year’s breaks though before the year draws to a close!

A little Nordic inspiration for  our hall

Nordic inspired Christmas decorations

This year our hall is a little more Nordic and pared back with twinkly lights entwining a tiny tree set in a wicker basket. I’ve added fir cones and tea lights in distressed mercury glass jars playing with the natural colours and textures over the weeks leading up to Christmas.

The tea lights started life as solar lights for the terraces however they quickly failed so as I liked the way the mercury glass had been distressed outside in the garden, I simply unscrewed to top to recycled them for Christmas. Somehow in these uncertain days of Brexit a simpler stripped back scheme felt more comfortable for this year.

A traditional Tree for the Dining room

If you have read our winter newsletter you’ll know the story of buying the Christmas tree already and it has found a home upstairs for this year where the warm rich colours of the fabrics have suited its comfortable traditional design so completely.

Wishing a very Merry Christmas to you all and a safe and Happy New Year!!
