The harbour at Lamorna – notice the winter storm damage that sent granite blocks tumbling to the sands
“Away down to Lamorna” is chorus of a famous Cornish song and I had forgotten just how beautiful Lamorna Valley was, until we drove down through the valley to the harbour again this week.
The tinge of autumn was yet to touch the luscious green of the all enveloping trees in this sheltered valley and summer lingered on for a perfect late autumn day.

We visited Porthleven on a silky smooth night this week to celebrate Charles’s birthday with supper in one of the fish restaurants that cluster around the harbour there. This ancient harbour town is only about fifteen to twenty minutes drive from us at Ednovean farm and perfect for an evening out for us not to far away but a real change of scenery!
Porthleven is quickly turning into a foodie destination, with some great fish restaurants clustered around the harbour, making it a just perfect for promenades well into the evening. I included several of the chic owner run restaurants around the harbour, in my “Little Black Book” for our Bed and Breakfast guest to scroll though and always love to add a nice photo or two or a new recommendation, if I get a chance to visit them too! The sea is such a startling blue now
This week we finally plunged into summer with an unexpected heat wave that transformed our world with a tide of Mediterranean warmth. We walked down to the coastal footpath of course for a wonderful day on a secluded cove and drank a toast from a bottle of wine given to us by a departing German guest for them enjoy many happy holidays in years to come.
We made a trip into Penzance for supper at the Old Lifeboat House on the harbour and finally celebrated our silver wedding for the second time at The Square in Porthleven so today there are way too many photos and I’m saving our picnic for another day!!
