November has seen our garden at Ednovean Farm fade gently into the gentle golds and russets of autumn and then slide towards to the stillness of winter, as we travelled through the month. And yet there have been some compensations for the autumn days – the drive into Penzance has been lovely along a road lined with golden decked trees complimented by a sky that swooped down to the horizon in a perfect contrast.
A rare frost in the Italian Garden
It hasn’t all been grey skies though with the high pressure vibrant blue skies arrived again and we woke up to a rare frost deep in the Italian Gardens and I was lucky as I had gabled on not covering the Agaves after listening to the weather report but they appear to be well and luckily I had tucked our beautiful bronze Banana plants in the garden room just in case.
I must say I wondered if I should post a garden update this month, as November is the month when we rest on our laurels enjoying the balanced dimensions in the garden spaces and the subtle rhythms of the planting. Yet there is always time of course to spend dreaming of summer days to come again.
And yet when I looked back over my photos they had a hint of the faded beauty of the last days of autumn and I hope they will give you a taste of the gentle golden light that stays low in the sky in the November days and settles to dusk oh too soon.

So take a walk with me again this month though the last of the autumn days in our Garden and look forward with me to the warmer days to come. Not or us at Ednovean the perennials but a year round framework of sculptural, architectural plants that defy the season with only the fig trees following the season
This month the November garden has slowly slipped from the soft elegance of autumn and transformed to the spare beauty of winter now just as the first meteorological day of the new season was declared
