Ednovean Farm’s spring garden in March

This month I’ve watch the spring develop around me and I’ve celebrated each tiny progress in my weekly blogs charting the burgeoning daffodils that have brought bright swathes of colour in casual drifts under the palms. So for this final blog roundup celebrating the beginning of spring in Cornwall I took one last walk around the garden to record some of the broader views and enjoy the layers of texture of the palms shrubs as the garden moves forward to the next chapter of its life.

Gardening just above the sea in spring, at least has the benefit of the warmer maritime climate keeping the frost away and lending extra light to the garden as the sun bounces off of the water.

The rabbit fully automated lawn mowers!

As I popped unexpected around the building this afternoon there were not just one but three rabbits sunbathing on the lawn that they are automatically keeping to a fine closely cropped sward. This year they have carefully trimming around the clumps of daffodils to give what could have been an immaculate appearance to the garden apart from the trial hole that they do enjoy digging. Well never mind I’m sure there is a manufacturer out there even now planning his next automated lawnmower campaign with a price tag of thousands so these are cheap and feed themselves!

Lighter evenings and fond memories

The change in the hour brought a benefit tonight and I spent some time planting out a drift of snowdrops under a bay tree near the gate in the newly light evenings. The snowdrops were given to me by one of our dear guests and so appreciated as a memory of their stays with us at Ednovean farm – I thought of you both when I planted them and a very big thank you!
