We were thrilled when the postman brought the news that we are again included in the Michelin Guide for 2015 along with a bright red door roundell. I think we were included in their guide for the first time in – you know i can’t be sure.
It seems a long time ago now when we opened our B&B at Ednovean Farm in 1991 by putting a hand painted sign at the end of our lane and waited……and waited for our first guests. When eventually the long anticipated guest arrived I didn’t want her to know she was our first one so I opened our visitors book at the second page. Oh how many years have gone by since then but it still gives us a thrill to see the Michelin guide arrive!!
In fact we” have been running our B&B for twenty four years by next May and we’ve seen huge changes. One of our guests first questions used to be “What time is breakfast?” but now it is “what if the password for the WiFi?” When we check the rooms I do an extra little check now for the WiFi access cards. Inspectors used to ask, for instance, if guest had access to a telephone but now of course every guest has their own personal mobile and we developed a fabulous selection of chargers left in sockets in those early days. You may notice on our hall table our elegant brochure not needed now of course in the days of instant access to the internet and so the list goes on but some guide books, like the Michelin Guide endure. I find that very reassuring don’t you?!
