The golden days and swirling mists of the changing season still hold us enthralled this autumn. Yet, as October turns to November, every day can be so different.
Golden days
October has brought us some beautiful golden days as the sun arches lower across the skies.
Each day brought fresh inspiration with the light’s low slant across the courtyards and gardens with subtle shapes normally hidden in the shadows revealed.
Our Ednovean jobs to do list!
Behind the scenes work continues in a Bed and Breakfast. Spring cleaning, repainting the windows and doors – although I’m afraid you wouldn’t enjoy a classic shot of paint drying! So alas, my planned visit to the sea hasn’t arrived yet…. But the spring cleaning is underway!

The autumn garden
The autumn gardening jobs are usually accompanied by a beady eyed robin now gathering tasty titbits wary of an over excited Spud chasing the scurrying leaves!
Sometimes I listen to the waves breaking in the cove below the village though ….
Opposite The long border below the Italian Garden full of swaying grasses
Swirling Mists and curious stillness
The reflective moments of autumn are with us now as the days shorten and the colours fade
On other days, the swirling mist might bring a perfect stillness, without even the whisper of the sea to break the spell.
Changing seasons
The sea birds head down to the cliffs to roost ever earlier, flying in neat formations high above the courtyards. Throughout the year, the end of the day is marked as we watch them sail high above the courtyards.
Linger into the dusk
On a summers’ evening when we linger in the courtyard with a chilled glass of wine we watch the birds flying to the sea in a timeless ritual. Now as winter approaches, we make our way indoors as dusk falls, to the cosy warmth of our home.

Christmas & Winter Breaks
We’ll be here as always, offering our Winter holidays and Christmas and New Year Breaks. You may even spend a moment watching the gulls head down to the cove first hand.
A Christmas Pilgrimage.
Take a special Christmas walk this year and stroll across the causeway to St Michael’s Mount. Even though the Castle and gardens are closed for the winter, the hamlet around the harbour is open for some festive shopping. The Mount and Island Shop are packed full of seasonal goodies ranging from bespoke Christmas Tree baubles to artisan gin! Check the tide times to see when the tide reveals the stone causeway.
The Mousehole Lights
Another festive treat as Christmas grows nearer is to visit the Christmas Lights in Mousehole – They’re switching on this year on the 12th of December. Or if you just can’t wait for that Christmas Twinkle St Ives will be switching on theirs from November 16th
