A wonderful Easter week

April 10, 2015

The coastal footpath great for walking and just east of Ednovean Farm
We walked down to the coastal footpath from Ednovean Farm

What wonderful weather we have had in Cornwall for the Easter holidays! The weather pendulum swung from woolly hat to bikini as the high pressure settled over the British Isles and we had one of the best spring weeks for years.

Yesterday the lure of the blue seas and skies that I could see from our window proved too much and we stole away to walk along the coastal footpath just east of Ednovean Farm.

It is always full of promise that first walk of spring for us as we revisit favourite haunts not ten minutes from our door. As we dropped down towards the cliffs we stopped to admire the bright cadmium yellow of the gorse and the newly emerging May flowers.exquisitely under planted by a delicate flow of violets. The gorse is so stanchly Cornish and the delicate  May flowers in tiny perfect profusion, they made great companions for us, as they  lined the way with a gentle tide of spring colour flowing ever closer to the sea.

I stopped to take a photo looking back over Perranuthnoe own beach with the spring tide exposing a vast stretch of sand and the haunting beauty of St Michael’s Mount just beyond before  watching a seagull twist in the wind and drop below the granite cliff.

The subtle pleasure of just sitting on the seashore on our favourite deserted cove lay ahead. It is a tranquil spot with not a sound but the restless lapping of the waves to accompany our picnic and just a short walk from Ednovean Farm too!

It was a perfect end to Easter for us – I hope yours was too and you’re ready for the April days ahead
