Merry Christmas with a celebration of winter

A christmas card for Merry Christmas witha vintage nativity scene at Ednovean FarmWe just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!!
The shortest days have enveloped us and bringing with them hygge – the compensations of the winter season, those  long cosy evenings to enjoy the subtle pleasures of winter.

Winter is a time to find a good book with snuggly throw by the fireside, or watching a fantastically bad Christmas film curled up with the cat.

A winter treat at the Victoria Inn

village pub exterior with sign for Victoria InnWe set out down to the village for a winters night treat at The Victoria Inn last night. I’ve often booked tables for our Bed and Breakfast our guests to enjoy their Monday special of a Pie and pint for an enticing £12 each and last night the temptation was too much for us and we set out into the velvety night for Perranuthnoe.

The Victoria is a handsome old building and just cut out for the Christmas season with that special atmosphere in its ancient walls, cosy interior and inglenook fireplaces. Continue reading “A winter treat at the Victoria Inn” »

All in a week at Ednovean Farm

The entrance to Ednovean Farm framing a sea view

The glorious blue seas that frame our home at Ednovean Farm

I’ve looked out over the Ednovean Farm gardens, to watch a bright red tanker out to sea in Mounts Bay and watched the flag flutter from the village church in Perranuthnoe for St George’s day. This week I’ve few photos to share of Danni’s (Danilon our Spanish Stallion) classical dressage course when we visited Jenny Rolfe in Devon and I was a guest for a change in a cosy Bed and Breakfast – all in all it’s been a busy week! My thoughts recently have begun to turn towards brisk walks along the tide line with the white balls of foam drifting past, only to scud away across the sands and supper in a cosy pub for a special treat in the gathering dusk.

So far the temperature has been remarkably high this year, even for sub tropically inclined west Cornwall but the first misty days of autumn finally came and then cleared with the racing evening breeze to give us  to give the late afternoons a glowing golden light sometimes followed by a wonderful sunset.

This week too I’ve gathered an armful of rich russet bracken and drying seed heads from the Cornish banks to bring into the house to celebrate the autumn season and Spud-Cat snoozed on in a cosy window seat. Continue reading “Autumn days” »
